The University of Texas Weightlifting Team had an incredible standout performance at the Texas Barbell Club Christmas Classic. Maris, Amelia, Caroline and Gonie combined to make 23 out of 24 lifts, and all ended with competition PRs!

Maris went 6 for 6 at her first ever weightlifting meet, snatching 37kg and clean & jerking 46kg for an 83kg total! Amelia went 47/59/106 on a 5 for 6 day. Her PR total earned her gold in the junior division! Caroline went 6 for 6, snatching 48kg, clean & jerking 62kg, and finishing with a 110kg total for a 6kg total PR! Gonie finished up on the women’s side, going 67/82/149 on a 6 for 6 day, for a 5kg PR total!

On the men’s side, Dayton Thompson started things off by making his debut on the competition platform. His 6 for 6 performance finished with a 62kg snatch, 86kg clean and jerk for a 148kg total! Fernando rounded out the men’s side with another 6 for 6 performance. He snatched 87kg, clean and jerked 113kg and totaled 200kg for competition PRs all around!

The University of Texas will compete next at Tarleton State Weightlifting’s Cowboys & Kilos on Saturday, 29 Jan in Stephenville, TX.
