Blake Gamez’s North American Open Finals debut landed him the Men’s 55kg title in Denver, Colorado. Blake hit a clutch 112kg clean & jerk to pull out the victory on the final lift of the session! His 3rd attempt landed him atop the podium by 1kg. Blake went 4 for 6 on the day, going 82/112/194 to earn silver in the snatch, gold in the clean & jerk, and gold in the total at the North American Open Finals!

On the women’s side, Brie Gomez made her second consecutive appearance at the North American Open Finals. She went 3 for 6 on the day with a hard fought lifts for a 1kg PR total. Her 77kg snatch matched her best ever competition PR, as well as her 97kg clean & jerk.

Both Blake and Brie’s performances qualified them for next year’s North American Open Finals in Atlanta, Georgia! Their next major national competition will be in March 2022 at University National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, where they will be joined by the rest of UT Weightlifting National Team!
