The team was led by Senior Blake Gamez, who won gold in the snatch in the 55kg class of the University National Championships. Two more medal winning performances were turned in by Sophomore Brie Gomez, who became the 59kg Junior National silver medalist, and teammate Jamie Pearce who claimed a podium position as the 59kg Junior National bronze medalist. Gomez also earned a silver in the snatch and a bronze in the CJ, while Pearce brought home an additional bronze in the snatch. Junior Maddie Graham churned out personal bests in both lifts to secure a sixth place finish in the 59kg women’s category at the University National Championships with a PR 156kg total. Gonie Altman, Maanas Sathaye, and Jacob Cadieux all competed at their first national meet and contributed to the strong team showing. Gonie made every weight she attempted in a superb 6 for 6 performance in the 64kg women’s category. Maanas Sathaye recored a personal best total of 192 in the 73kg men’s category, and Jacob Cadieux contributed a top 5 finish in the men’s 67kg class. The co-ed team placed fifth in the country at the 2020 University National Championships, fielding their largest national team to date. In 2018 only two team members qualified for a national meet.
